I got the Christmas decorations up today -- what a feeling of accomplishment! Even though I live alone and no one will be staying here over the holiday, I put them up for myself. I love the colors and all the candles and little white lights in the evening.
Since I moved to the sun, I decorate the outside with shiny Christmas ornaments on my yuccas.
I just made these three to send to Juniper and her mom and dad. The pattern is "Emmitt & Ivy Ornaments" by Sweetwater.
I made the snowman out of stacked wool circles and the Hole In the Barn Door quilt block out of flattened chocolate wrappers
Friends made all of the wool mittens and the snowperson ornament.
I made the triangle Santa last year. Every year I made a different ornament.

Here are some more decorations in the living room ...
... and the kitchen LOL ...
... and the guest bathroom.

After growing up in Pennsylvania and spending many years in other snowy states, it stills feels strange to be decorating for Christmas when I can see a palm tree from my living room! But there is a natural Christmas feel to the lady slipper plant by my front door, with its bright green branches and red flowers that the hummingbirds love.

Have a colorful day

Lovely decorations! I am decorating this year because we have the family coming. Often we travel to their homes and I do minimal decorating. I always hang a wreath on the door made by a best friend in NC over 20 yrs ago. (Sorry, I can't see how I can attach a picture).
I am amazed by how often you post. I can't even get one blog out a month. Composing and writing is not my thing.
Have a very Merry Christmas!
Sherrie, Love your ornaments on the yuccas. So festive. And the house looks so inviting and dressed for the holidays. Enjoyed seeing your ornaments. So sweet. We'll be putting our little tree up soon. Can't believe it's already December!
Lovely decorations. They look familiar, because they are much like what I used to do. After Floyd died I continued for about twenty years, but finally gave up entertaining and simply hang a wreath on the door. I wouldn't have believed I would give up a Christmas tree. All the cherished ornaments are safely stored in the attic. Wonder what I will ever do with them. Maybe I could find a quilter who was burned out in the LA fires who would like to replace her collection. I will check into it! Glad you have your treasured memories. Love the snow people for your family. Love, Del and KoKo
You always create such a Christmas wonderland, no matter where you are! Thank you for sharing!
