Studio and garden color splash

When the sun came out this afternoon, I wandered around my studio and garden snapping pictures of my favorite colors. The pieces above have been draped over a design board, unfinished, for literally years, but I like looking at their colors.

The Swiss chard is always a work of art as well as being delicious and having the same vertical lines as the unfinished quilts.

I finished the latest Sulky Solvy scarf, above. Even though I hardly ever wear big necklaces anymore (nowhere to wear them most days), I still like to look at them, so I keep a few on the bookcase in the studio. I could spend hours just staring at the beads.

I love texture as much as color, and this bag from Asia and basket from Africa have a permanent home within sight of my sewing machine. The quilt top on the right is my latest Jelly Roll 1600 -- so addictive.

Back out in the garden, sunflowers are drooping and animals are starting to pick at the seeds. In the studio, my wrinkled washed shirts pile up on the ironing board, but I decided I'd rather look at rumpled colorful clothes than to iron them and hide them in the closet. (At least that's my excuse.) I hope you have happy colors in your life today.

  3. The connections you make between your fiber loves and the natural world outside your door always intrigue me. Whether intentional or not, it's clear where some of your inspiration comes from.
