I just finished embroidering 126 circles on the borders for my wool birds. I loved the process -- very soothing and meditative.
I used sizes 5 and 8 perle cotton in four shades of cream on several shades of cream wool.
This was the view from the deck as I stitched today. It was a perfect 72 degrees. I'm delaying attaching the borders because I don't want to get to the quilting stage, which I'm afraid I might mess up. After working on this quilt for almost a year, I don't want to ruin it with my quilting!
Have a colorful day
Hi, Sherrie. The white on white circles are very pleasing--so subtle. Love your Spring in the Desert quilt as well. Beautiful color!

Beautiful, and so soothing! Question: does it have to end up a quilt? Could it be a wall hanging instead?
ReplyDeleteSherrie, Love the circles!

ReplyDeleteYour circles of sublimity are calming.
why do i want to paint them with transparent finger prints of aqua marine paint?
And to let a project rest a bit usually gets me to the next step while not thinking about it! Beautiful view! Sonja
I love the tone on tone border with dimension that those circles with embroidery make. What a fabulous piece this will be when finished. I so empathize with your fears of "ruining" your work with the quilting. This might be a good time to break out some hand-quilting maybe even with perle cotton?
ReplyDeleteThat 70's weather is indeed perfect for sitting out with your handwork. What a lovely view.
WOW! I am so impressed! I loved your birds but this border is perfect! Perfect in that it fits so well as a border and perfect as in workmanship!!! You should be so proud of your effort in this piece! It's just wonderful!!
