I just got back from a relaxing and productive quilt guild retreat at the Seabeck Conference Center on the Hood Canal. Dorms and meeting buildings are scattered throughout the rural setting just across the street from the water. It is beautiful.
Inside, about 14 of us sewed, ate, chatted and laughed for three days. I can't show you what I worked on because they're gifts and most of the recipients read the blog. But I did get a LOT done until my sewing machine seized up about an hour before the retreat ended. Luckily, I have a second machine so I can finish the gifts before Christmas.
Here are some of the projects being worked on:
Somehow I missed getting food photos! That's unheard of from me. I guess I was too busy eating to remember to take pictures. They served us family style in a big lodge and I'd categorize all of it as comfort food.
Already looking forward to next year!
Have a colorful day
I love the retreat atmosphere especially at the edge of the ocean or water! And it is always interesting to see the sewists accoutrement things we use to ply our art trade.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful spot, and I love the rocking chairs! And the pin cushions are darling... great ideas! Hope your sewing machine survives... it's almost time for me to bring mine in for its annual cleaning, and I don't have a second one so will need other things to occupy me while it is gone.
ReplyDeleteBTW, snow in the forecast for Monday... winter is coming here!
Looks like a great retreat. Love the pin cushions!
ReplyDeleteLovely setting & workspace. And such cool projects being worked on around you - gotta be inspiring! Just love those first two quilts and the variety of pincushions. Glad your machine didn't seize up until near the end and that you got so much done. Why is it so hard to be that productive at home? Oh yeah - don't have all that energy & laughter surrounding us!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun and great show and tell!!! Love that first mariners compass, kinda?? WOW..each piece is cool..as are pin cushions!! Looks like a very relaxing setting to work!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing our fun retreat. We were a VERY productive bunch. We enjoyed good meals, beautiful walks and supportive camaraderie.
