A "suite" surprise and then Sedona

Sweet, suite surprise!

We reserved a regular room at Little America in Flagstaff, Arizona, and they gave us a free upgrade to the Governor's Suite! It was our anniversary, but they didn't know that. The bedroom was lofted over a spacious living/office/kitchen room, and this is the view looking down. Wish we had more than one night to spend there.

To back up: We left Sandy, Utah, Wednesday morning with blue skies and snowy mountains. At lunchtime, we pulled into Kanab, Utah, and ate at The Three Bears Creamery Cottage. If you want to move to Kanab's sunshine, the restaurant is hiring.

The snow disappeared going through southern Utah ...

... but it reappeared in Flagstaff, where a big storm dumped a ton of snow on Tuesday. But by the time we arrived it was blue skies and sunshine.

Here is the view from the hotel dining room of tall pines surrounded by snow. I just read that Flagstaff sits amidst the largest contiguous Ponderosa pine forest on Earth. No wonder I always associated Flagstaff with Ponderosas.

Then it was on to Sedona! The view from our deck this morning shows promising weather for the hike that we'll be doing soon. The rain in Washington is but a distant memory.

Have a colorful day
