Big shakes down in the studio. Dave finished the ironing table that he's spent the past year designing and making. It's as sturdy as Fort Knox and will fold up vertically and roll away on locking wheels if I want to store it out of the way. I've been quilting for more than 30 years, and this is the first ironing table I've had!
He made four drawers to hold my ironing paraphernalia (and maybe some fabric). It's the perfect height for me, which means I'll probably use it as a work table in addition to an ironing board. It's 28 by 80 inches.
Dave staples the cover to the back of the board. |
I'm putting together a little packet for each bird so I can take them on this year's trip to Sedona. I have about eight more birds to do to complete the thirty in Sue Spargo's bird book.
I wish I had more to report on, but I haven't been working on much since finishing the baby quilt. I'm thinking of making another wonky log cabin using my own painted fabric, but first I have to clear off the cutting table so I can use it as a paint table and I've been too lazy to do that. These rainy, grey days make me really sluggish.
Have a colorful day

What a wonderful ironing table!!! I would have those drawers filled in no time!!!
Oh man - major envy! I've always wanted one of these but to be honest don't have room. Dave really thought this through. Genius to design it to pivot for storage & include those locking wheels. No excuses now!
Wow! Nice work, Dad.
I love it! You didn't tell me you had a handy guy for a hubby... great job, Dave! and I can't wait to see the birds when you get here... keep thinking Sunshine, warm, right around the corner! BTW, have you been following the "Fire" blog this month? I'm going to see if I can get some ideas going for some embroidered pins like Quilter Beth has been blogging about. Always somethin'! ;-)
It looks perfect!!! My husband and I are currently in the talking/planning stages of me taking over an unused room in my house (living room) for my sewing space. One of the items on my list is an ironing station. Enjoy your new table!!!
I love your ironing board and really envy you of it. In my Atelier I won't have place for such a great big ironing board. Unfortunately here in Switzerland everything is smaller, especially the rooms and so no place for such a great ironing board. Hope you'll enjoy it!
