It was a dark and stormy day yesterday, but inside was cozy and bright because it was our Woolies meeting day!
Judy set the tone for winter with this fantastic snowy village wool appliqué quilt that she just finished. She saw the houses in a magazine and adapted them to a new shape.
Her embroidery details are so inspiring, and the tweedy sky fabric looks like a Northwest winter sky.
But the meeting started with us gathered around Pam's kitchen counter looking at the loot she got on a recent road trip ... fabric and patterns to make us drool. And in the background is Linda's chocolate chip pumpkin bread to really make us drool.
Pam also put out this sewing kit that she made from a Sue Spargo pattern, "Sew Your Seeds." You can never have too many sewing kits!
Downstairs, Pam arranged her block-of-the-month pieces on the design wall. Some of the Woolies already completed theirs and hung them in our guild show last month, but others (like myself) are still working on it.

And this scarf isn't wool, but it was worn at the meeting. Karen made it by drawing the circles with Magic Markers onto silk and then spritzing it with alcohol. Must try it!

Thank you Sherrie for this...I wish I could have come, but was entertaining a friend visiting from Canada because my hubby got stuck working (until 2:30 this am!) So I could not get away. I so love this group and the inspiration!
I'd just read this post, thoroughly enjoying all the bright colors, and had moved on to a post on Angela Walter's blog which appropriately enough was about quilting wool quilts! I remember the trouble you had trying to quilt one such that you handed it off to a pro (don't blame you), so it was amusing to hear Angela the Pro say she'd left this quilt sit because she was a bit afraid to tackle it. Love all the wonderful handwork of these projects! Great way to spend a dark stormy day! BTW, you will love playing with marking pens & alcohol. I haven't tried "magic markers", just permanent markers. And I drizzle the alcohol on with a pipette, but there are so many ways to do them. Hope you post pix when you do try it!

Love all of these. Judy's snowy village is fantastic. I really would like to try my hand at the woolies. It's got to be easier than hand stitching through painted fabric! Any suggestions on how to get started? Any easy pattern to see if I really want to do this? Thanks and as always, thanks for your inspiration.
