Feet and Forks visit Tucson!

My Feet and Forks friends from Gig Harbor, WA, visited me last week and we walked and ate and walked and ate and walked and ate!!! We started walking and then going out for lunch 12 years ago, then I moved to Tucson two years ago and I've really missed them. It was so much fun to have them here all camped out in my house in the sun (except for one rainy day).

Here are some places we walked:

Catalina State Park

Sabino Canyon

Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum

Desert Museum

Happy javelinas at Desert Museum

Tohono Chul Gardens

Ted DeGrazia's Gallery In the Sun

Happy Saguaro Mexican shop

And here are some places we ate:

Guadalahara's on Oracle

Churros at La Hacienda

Mexican at La Hacienda

Happy hour at home (above and below)

Four kinds of fries at Zinburger's

 Bake case at Kneaders

We bought Chunky Cinnamon and Churro breads

Tohono Chul with Nancy

Nancy is visiting from Gig Harbor and we went to the Tohono Chul gardens two days in a row. Besides fabulous desert gardens, there are three really good gift shops and an art gallery.

Here she is in front of a wall with a nice saying about nature.

There are some real architectural gems here, with old stucco and bright walls.

I'm also inspired by the doorways, arches and seating areas. I'd love to try some of these ideas in my back yard.

There is a lot of outdoor art ...

... as well as indoor art.

It's been such a relaxing two days at the gardens, in addition to trips today to a quilt store and needlework/gift shop. Tomorrow Joyce and Kandi will join us for a reunion of the Feet & Forks!!!

Happiness

I haven't written in awhile because I've been happily occupied, so it seems appropriate to post some quotes about happiness!

I hope this picture from my daughter makes you happy. She posed her four rabbits in a kissing booth for their Valentine's Day photo.

And the Arizona sunshine makes me happy almost every day. We had one day of rain this week, but it was needed and I used it to spend the day in pajamas and get things done around the house.

I sold a few more spirit dolls at Absolutely Art and am making more to replace them. That makes me happy.

Speaking of art, I got to see these native baskets behind the scenes at Tohono Chul Park where they're being prepared for exhibit. It was a tour for new members to show us the workings of the park and meet some of the people who make the magic happen.

And finally, two quotes that I strongly believe in.

Happy 90th birthday, Mom!

My mom turned 90 on Jan. 4. My brother, sisters, brother-in-law and I visited them last week at their house south of L.A. to celebrate!

She loves a party and loves cake, so she was a happy camper. She and my dad are both extremely fit and enjoying life! Here's the whole gang:

While there, we visited the Pt. Vicente whale watch site a few miles from their house, where the grey whale migration is under way.

Volunteers set up telescopes and cameras to count the whales and other wildlife that passes by. I saw two whales spouting!

I also saw a tortoise named Nomad being walked by her person along the cliffs by the whale watch point. They walk about 1.8 miles a day on the same route, with her person tossing out veggies ahead to urge her on.

Just downhill from my parents' house is beautiful Lunada Bay on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The next three photos are from the cliffs above the bay. It's a popular surfing spot, but I didn't see anyone in the water this visit.

They have a beautiful view of the sunset -- this one is from my first night there. I hope they have many more sunsets for years to come.
