Tomatoes from Jane's garden

My friend Jane is drowning in tomatoes, so she invited me over to pick some yesterday!!! What a treat! We don't have a garden at our new place, so I was really missing the taste of fresh, homegrown tomatoes.

And look at the beautiful colors. She and her husband have about 50 plants, in a wide variety of sizes and colors.

Can you see her hidden in the tomato jungle?

The cherry tomatoes taste like candy.
It's hard to stop eating them.

Look at how tall those plants are! Jane has already canned oodles of jars of tomato sauce and ketchup, and still the garden keeps producing.

Needless to say, dinner last night involved tomatoes ... big bowls of sliced red, yellow and chocolate ones drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and sprinkled with basil from the pot on our back deck.

Thanks, Jane!

Have a colorful day

I love home grown tomatoes... didn't get around to planting any this year, darn it!
I'll bet there's a food kitchen somewhere nearby that would love to have your friend donate some tomatoes to them! We have one here that gets produce from local growers for their clients... great way to make sure all those lovely tomatoes get put to good use!

My FIL had a garden like that when he was alive. Neighbors marveled that if flourished even in drought years. Your friend sure has a nice variety too.
