Fall color and Sew Day

Today was Sew Day with the Twisted Nut Stitchers, and we sewed up a storm as the weather outside went from cloudy and gray in the morning to crisp blue skies in the afternoon.

I worked on another Sulky Solvy scarf using fabric hand dyed by my friend Sheila. When I got home, I rinsed out the Solvy and hung it on my Japanese maple, top photo.

Carolynn made EIGHT elegant, double-sided napkins to give as a gift. Lucky recipient!

Nancy made reversible, curvy coffee themed placemats from her huge stash of coffee fabric. And Linda continued work on her hand-appliqued winter quilt blocks.

Sew Day usually lasts from 10 a.m. until around 4 p.m., and it's the longest stretch of sewing I do all month. Somehow I just can't let myself sit at the machine that long at home because I always think of something else I should be doing. It's great to have that whole day blocked out for nothing but sewing and visiting.

As we headed home, Nancy cut hydrangeas from her gorgeous garden for us to take home and dry. I still have the last batch she gave me two years ago, and she suggested I could spray them gold for the holidays. Great idea!

As I pulled into my driveway the late afternoon sun made my porch pumpkins glow, so I snapped a photo and then put the flowers in that magic light. I wish that light could be duplicated indoors. Hope you enjoyed your visit with us.

Have a colorful day

Everything is gorgeous! I love the colors in your scarf, I am jealous over the hydrangeas... one of my fave flowers, and the light on the pumpkins is wonderful! Your sewing day sounded lovely... great to have friends to visit with while you create!

The colors on your blog today sure say "Autumn". It's so great to spend your day with quilting friends - I bet there was a lot of laughing, sharing and fun involved.

What beautiful colors! I love fall, my favorite time of the year. Laughing now, because as each season approaches I think the same thing.
