Wool sunflower cushion
I finished my first little wool embroidery project. It's a sunflower cushion from a pattern by The Cottage at Cardiff Farms. The kit included everything I needed except the thread.
It's great to work with, isn't it? It's been awhile since I made a lovely little needlecase with poinsettia applique, all in wool felt. It whet my appetite! Bought Mary Stori's book on wool applique and got no farther. But I recently took advantage of a scrapbag deal of Mary's recommended felt brand - National - so have a variety of colors and sizes of nice wool felts to play with. Let's not mention all the unfelted wool I have left over from my seamstress days. Stay tuned...but don't hold your breath!
I am a quilt artist and journalist living in Tucson, AZ, after 12 years in the Pacific Northwest preceded by shorter stints all around the country. I started this blog as a way to keep in touch with other fabric artists but soon started weaving in threads about colorful places, people, food, wildlife and anything else that might bring color to your world. Your blog comments are most welcome. Thank you for visiting.
