Miracles in a simple bouquet

Sunshine and flowers -- what could be more uplifting? I often treat myself to an inexpensive grocery store or farmers market bouquet, and that simple indulgence gives me such a lift. If the bouquet is sparse, I fill it in with baby's breath, which I love for its sweet innocence and airiness.

The other day I was sitting in the kitchen and suddenly the path of the sun shifted and illuminated the flowers on the counter. Before the sun had a chance to shift again and cast the flowers into evening shadows, I grabbed my camera and began capturing the miracle.

Lady Bird Johnson was so right when she said,

"Where flowers bloom
so does hope."

And Buddha said,

"If we could see the miracle
of a single flower clearly,
our whole life would change."

As I delved deeper into the bouquet,
I discovered dozens of miracles.

And when I'm feeling down,
I remember this quote by Robert Leighton:

"The flower that follows the sun
does so even on a cloudy day."

Have a colorful day

Beautiful post, Sherrie! I don't splurge on floral bouquets, but I do love flowers! My lilacs are blooming, I have had tulips and daffodils, and in late summer our yard will be an explosion of sunny wild Coreopsis... all make my heart happy, as did your wonderful photos! Thanks for sharing...

Sherrie, do you sell your quilts? I don't have the talent or temperament to create such beautiful things as you do. But would love to have one. Please let me know what you have for sale and the price. Namaste.

I love your blog. Spring is soggy and chilly on the northeast coast but trees are beginning to bud and tulips and daffodils are up and waning. We generally do not have a warm or sunny spring but we do have a few days here and there that are lovely. I so enjoy your focus on color- in our lives and in quilting. Keep on posting, please.
