In my quest for color to brighten yet ANOTHER gray, rainy Northwest day, I found these doll photos that I don't think I've shared with you. I bought her at the Seattle Art Museum's gift shop awhile ago because I just couldn't resist the cheerful quirkiness of the two-faced design. I think it's supposed to be an elephant in the second photo.
Then the salesclerk pointed out that under her dress, the body had a zipper that opened to reveal its own carrying bag. As you pull out the bag, the doll disappears inside.
She said little girls use these to carry around their dolls in their own purse, with room for any extra doll supplies or other goodies. I don't have a little girl to give mine to, but I love having it perched in my sewing room. And I can really appreciate the sewing details that went into it.

Kind of primitive, but inventive. And, it has the main element. Color.

Oh my gosh, what a creation! I also love the quirkiness and I could see where the some little kids would have all kinds of fun making up play stories about the imaginative characters depicted on either side of this doll. The purse is just frosting on the cake! Can we look forward to seeing Sherrie's rendition of one of these any time soon?
