Picking up piece from last year

I pulled out a piece I started a year ago, one of my "yoga mat quilts," because I needed one more project to work on in Sedona and on the road home. I added some beads and leaf vein embroidery first.

I love using this little felt needle holder when I travel. It was made for me by Linda P. of my sew group. She made one for each of us one Christmas and it's perfect for on the road.

I decided to use this orange-yellow hand-dyed embroidery thread by Laura Wasilowski of Artfabrik to fill in the background with big stitches. I just finished the last stitches today in the car as we drove up the Oregon coast in the rain.

Next I have to decide if I want to add more stitching to the leaves. I know I'll add beads, but that will wait until I get home.

Have a colorful day
