Desert texture and lines

During my desert hikes here in Sedona, my eye constantly goes back and forth between the amazing, wide vistas and close-up detail of texture and lines. Today I'll focus on the latter.

The first few photos show the rough, linear texture of the red sandstone layer for which Sedona is famous.

Next are gorgeous colors and texture on tree bark encountered on yesterday's hike through Long Canyon. Much of the walk is shaded by junipers, pinion pines, Ponderosa pines, oaks and madrones.

This next shot is the rock on the underside of a cave overhang. It looks like an abstract painting to me.

Last, I love the graceful lines of this tree near the shallow caves where we picnicked during our hike.

Have a colorful day

I'm sure my eyes would be drawn to the same things. I have file folders full of similar pictures I've taken to prove it! Oh, but that last one, that tree - Yes yes yes!

Beautiful! There is so much to take in there, especially for someone who has a creative eye. Love the bark on the tree... never seen one.
