Early Mother's Day party

From left, Barb, Beth, and Sandy

Last night Beth had a Mother's Day party for those of us who won't be with our children on Mother's Day because they're spread across the county from New Jersey to California, with none living near us. It was a potluck, and we feasted!

Might as well start with dessert -- a chocolate babka cake from Trader Joe's and Mexican cinnamon ice cream.

We had a balance of healthy and indulgent:

Stir fried vegetables

Mashed potatoes with cheese, cream,

butter, sour cream, mayo and bacon!!!

Cod in a delicious Asian sauce

Grilled Romaine lettuce and cherry tomatoes

Blue corn meal muffins with

Swedish sugar on top

Rainbow fruit kabobs (my contribution)

Of course it would be better if our kids could be with us, but I'm just happy that my own kids are happy and that I have wonderful friends here for celebrations like this one.

Have a colorful day
