Here's the photo of my finished sailing quilt that I posted about yesterday. After converting the photo to a black and white, I'm pretty sure it would benefit from more contrast. On the other hand, I really like the colors and the quilting lines. (Gentle critiques welcome.)
And speaking of sailing in the summertime, look at how the Pacific Northwest was left out of the record books. While the rest of you were sizzling, we had a chilly, drizzly June. This image from the National Climatic Data Center shows the number of places where daily maximum temperature records were broken in June.

They say summer arrives in the Northwest on July 5, and this year it came one day early. Our next week is looking perfect and I'm looking forward to sewing outside.

I like the ethereal look that the low contrast gives. Think of a little mist or light fog burning off. Everything is floating along so nicely.
Yes, I've been sneaking peeks at the national weather map and smirking at that tiny corner usually showing green while the rest bakes.
If you like it as is then leave it as is.
I like it as is, yes floating along, as the first comment and at times that's how it feels when on the water..

Thank you both for affirming my gut instinct. I'm going to leave it as is, because I actually do like the ethereal, floating quality.
In spite of the fact that I live right in the middle of that sizzling hot mass, and you are up there soaking in the fabulous summer, I will give you a good critique.What I see is the wind. It carries the images of passing ships as it breezes through. Just some abstract thoughts.
